Вешать на hotplug?
Может, сгрузить куда-нить вывод всех *scan из libhw-tools?
Есть еще и другие вещи, на которые говорит unknown либо не грузит 
модуль, хоть и показывает его...
Или надо на каждый конкретный случай отдельно?
