А я уже зарекся делать extended крайним разделом.
У меня вопросы. А /dev/hda4 первоначально создавался "до упора"?
Если да, то когда "потерялись" последние цилиндры?
Я подобный глюк у себя наблюдал (имею master22 + update).
То есть, если extended сразу и "под завязку" не заполнить логическими 
разделами
и за ним нет ничего, то после перезагруки свободные цилиндры 
"растворяются без осадка".
