We are using SLES8 SP3, Oracle 9.2.0.5 with Asynch IO on ext3.   It is 
nice and I have never lost data (20+ 100GB+ oracle db's), BUT, you may 
want to be able to resize your FS online this is the biggest drawback for 
me.

You may also consider JFS, I have found it to perform as well+,  and am 
using it for all of my root FS on 80+ SLES8SP3 machines.  Once again never 
lost data.
