If it's i845-based system, then it's not monitor but that
particular version of XFree86 (4.2.1.1) which got specific
glitch.

The solution is to either downgrade to 4.2.1 or upgrade to 4.3.0;
I have spare set of 4.2.1-alt4 packages which are known good
regarding that particular bug, and there's "Shrek's backport
collection" having XFree86-4.3.0 among other goodies here:

It just isn't RR. Frankly, it's a lapse that XFree86 build with
quite exposed problem (manifesting itself on a widespread video
target) went into ALx2.2 :( but things got better since then, so
there's hope that audio/video-related problems are much more rare
in ALT products now.

In fact, you can just try Compact to see -- there's a fresh
snapshot at ftp://ftp.altlinux.ru/pub/people/darkstar/iso, and
its buglist at http://bugzilla.altlinux.ru/show_bug.cgi?id=3005
seems to be getting shorter with each snapshot so hopefully the
release is closing in.

We'll be testing it tomorrow here in Kiev, if most things are OK
then freshmeat/distrowatch announce will follow as 2004011x were
quite comfortable to us already.
