[Sysadmins] MySQL 5.7 & Roundcube

Второй подход: убираю MySQL с заморозки, обновляю, далее:
# service mysqld stop
# /usr/sbin/mysqld -C utf8 --skip-grant-tables &
# /usr/bin/mysql_upgrade

Roundcube при попытке подключения по-прежнему выдаёт:

DATABASE ERROR: CONNECTION FAILED!
Unable to connect to the database!
Please contact your server-administrator.

В /var/log/httpd2/ssl_request_log появляется информация о доступе по https, 
ошибок нигде нет. В /var/log/mysql ничего нет.

> Так запустите httpd в один процесс и strace на него - сразу будет видно,
> почему не соединяется. 

Как это сделать?

При попытке зайти в БД:
# mysql -uroundcube -p roundcubemail
получаю "Access denied" после ввода правильного пароля. В логах MySQL и про 
это ничего нет.
