...OK, so the subject line actually *did* reference the article in
question, though following enough preemptory text that it was scrolled
off the visible part of my mail index view.

Suggestions when posting an article reference:

  - Post the URL.

  - Indicate in your subject line that this is a news or media
reference. "[News]" or "[Media]" are common on some Usenet groups.

  - Keep in mind that many news sources (The New York Times, The Age,
the LA Times, The SJ Mercury News, Wall Street Journal) require
registration or subscriptions for access. Some of these (NYT) and
others (the Economist, Yahoo news, Reuters) age-out their free
content after a brief period (usually a week or so), meaning that
those who check the list infrequently, or view archives, have *no*
    idea what you're talking about.

  - With the above in mind:

     - Post the article headline.

     - Post the article byline.

     - Post the article publication date. Note that many online sources
(including NZ's National Business Review) either don't put a date
in the customary location (with the byline), or put it in a
       nonstandard location.

     - Post the article's original publication. Particularly for
syndicated / aggregated content sites (e.g.: LinuxToday).

     - If you run across an article at an aggregator site / RSS feed, GO
TO THE ORGINAL SOURCE (if possible).

     - Post a paragraph or so introducing the story.

In the case of this article, a considerate post would go to the original
source:

New Zealand schools go open source, Linux
    Trading in Microsoft for Novell?
    (National Business Review 14-Jul-2005)

Novell has signed a national agreement with the New Zealand Ministry
of Education to provide all state and state-integrated schools with
a range of Novell software, including SUSE Linux operating systems.

Douglas HarrИ, senior ICT consultant from the Ministry of Education
said, "A large number of New Zealand schools have been ardent Novell
users for many years. This new agreement will allow those schools to
upgrade to the latest versions of Novells wide range of server
    software at no cost.

Peace.
