Может, это кому нить поможет разъяснить ситуацию...

# clock --set --date "2001-06-06 12:50" --localtime
# clock --hctosys --localtime --debug
hwclock 2.13
User did not specific a clock access method. Searching for one...
Using rtc ioctl interface to clock via file '/dev/rtc'.
Not booted from MILO
Last drift adjustment done Wed Jun 6 12:50:00 2001 (Time 991821000)
Last calibration done Wed Jun 6 12:50:00 2001 (Time 991821000)
Assuming hardware clock is kept in LOCAL time.
Waiting for clock tick...
...got clock tick
Time read from Hardware Clock: Y=101 M=6 D=6 12:50:14
mktime_tz: TZ environment variable is not set.
Hw clock time : Wed Jun 6 12:50:14 2001 = 991821014 seconds since 1969
UTC
Time since last adjustment is 14.000000 seconds
Need to add 31409.134766 seconds to Hardware Clock time.
Calling settimeofday:
        newtime = 991852423.134765 reference_time=992608504.555692
        Setting System Time to 991852423.135236.
Updating utmp file '/var/run/utmp' with pututline().
Updating wtmp file '/var/log/wtmp' with updwtmp().
Skipping update of adjtime file because nothing has changed.

# hwclock --adjust --debug --localtime
hwclock 2.13

...got clock tick
Time read from Hardware Clock: Y=101 M=6 D=6 12:50:49
mktime_tz: TZ environment variable is not set.
Hw clock time : Wed Jun 6 12:50:49 2001 = 991821049 seconds since 1969
UTC
Time since last adjustment is 49.000000 seconds
Need to add 109931.968750 seconds to Hardware Clock time.
Reference time for clock setting is 991852458.136099
Time elapsed since reference time has been 0.018743 seconds.
Waiting for Time 991852458.667349 to cause a whole number +.5 elapsed
seconds.
Setting Hardware Clock to 19:23:01(+.5) = 991930981 (+.5) seconds since
1969 UTC
ioctl(RTC_SET_TIME) was successful.
Now wait for next clock tick (should be 500 ms).
Waiting for clock tick...
...got clock tick
Time read from Hardware Clock: Y=101 M=6 D=7 19:23:02
mktime_tz: TZ environment variable is not set.
Hw clock time : Thu Jun 7 19:23:02 2001 = 991930982 seconds since 1969
UTC
It is now 1.041264 seconds since reference time.
Hardware clock ended up -0.010014 seconds from intended set time.
