Некошерно как-то... Интересно, почему нельзя взять и собрать? Все равно ставить будут только те, кому это надо.

Please have at it.  Frank Klemm has already gotten Monkey's Audio building
under Linux. (with MMX assembly)

Check the MAC Developer's Forum for info.

We are looking into creating monkeysaudio encoder and decoder plugins
for GStreamer (http://www.gstreamer.net). GStreamer is a multimedia
framework for Unix (mostly linux :) which is currently set for inclusion
in the next release of the popular GNOME desktop for Unix.

GStreamer is under the LGPL license, but we put no conditions on the
license of the plugins (even if we naturally prefer them to be LGPL
too). Anway we even have a special license field in the plugins that
lets applications sort out plugins which are under an incompatible license.

Anyway I guess we are asking for permission to try making such plugins
which would mean Monkeysaudio support for Unix plattforms if we succeed.
We currently support mp3, ogg and flac, so monkeysaudio would be a nice
addition.

Т.е. плаг на gstreamer.net есть. Но он не собирается на gstreamer, который в Сизифе.
