Since Audacity 1.2.0 was released, we've fixed a lot of minor bugs,
and received a number of updated translations. I'd like to release
version 1.2.1 soon, to get these fixes to our users. I want this to
be our most stable release ever!

Here's my proposal: Audacity 1.2.1 will contain only bug fixes and
translation updates. This will allow us to release it as soon as
possible, without waiting for all of the translations to be updated
again. This would be especially nice for languages whose translations
were completed after 1.2.0, and have never been released yet.

Audacity 1.2.2 will include the VU meters and other interface changes
(click removal, HCI improvements). For 1.2.2, we will allow more time
for testing and translation.

Does this sound good? Any comments or suggestions? VU meters were
already checked in to 1.2, but I can revert them temporarily in a
short-lived branch just for the 1.2.1 release.

These are the fixes that are already checked in for 1.2.1:

 * Fix a possible crash when opening or resizing the Equalization
window, especially when using large system fonts.

 * Don't allow percentages less than -100% in Change Pitch/Speed/Tempo
   effects. Fixes a possible crash.

 * Fix a crash when the temporary directory is not available on startup.

 * Correctly load saved ID3 tags from Audacity project files.

 * On Linux and OS X, store lockfiles in the temp directory instead of
the user's home directory. This fixes problems in lab environments
where users have restricted or network-mounted home directories.

 * Linux: Fix endianness problems in playback on PowerPC.

 * Linux: Fix compilation problem in Nyquist on MIPS.

 * Updated translations.

Here are two other changes I plan to check in before the 1.2.1 release:

 * Fix a bug that prevented Nyquist from running with certain regional
settings, on systems with LADSPA plugins installed. (Already checked
   in to HEAD)

 * Include a more recent PortAudio v19 snapshot (fixes problems
   compiling with PortAudio v19).

Also, if we can fix any more of these bugs in the next week or so, it
would be nice (but not essential):
