Скорее багу по поводу самого gaim.
Он до сих пор собран на gtk1, хотя давно уже есть порт на gtk2.
Собирается gaim под gtk2 легко, правда не совсем понятно, какие библиотеки ему нужны для вывода звука.

Кстати, в родном спеке указано следующее:
