[d-kernel] Множественные проблемы с перестройкой ядра

Блин, люди, помогите, плиз, нубу, совсем сбился.
Меньше недельки назад завёл пингвина, ALT Linux 2.4 JR. Давно дистр лежал  
подаренный, как раз win рухнула, решил перебраться на линукс.
В общем, нужно пересобрать ядро для включения atm, что в свою очередь  
необходимо для настройки выхода в сеть (девайс требует atm'a в ядре).
menu xconfig плюётся тем, что qt не инсталлирован:

* Unable to find the QT installation. Please make sure that the
* QT development package is correctly installed and the QTDIR
* environment variable is set to the correct location.

хотя вроде qt поставлен. Ладно, слил себе qt3, так тот уже на configure  
блюёт этим:

Что за i586-alt-linux-g++ - не постиг. gcc? есть. Но всё равно тоже слил.  
Тот при на make говорит:

Ну да ладно, пробовал при пересборке ядра make menuconfig - ему нужен  
Ncurses. Оно ругается этим:

Опять ...linux-g++
Одним словом, WTF?
oldconfig это конечно здорово, так ядро тоже собрать можно, но всё-таки  
хочется пофиксить проблемы с qt, ncurses и раскурить смысл  
i586-alt-linux-g++
