[Comm] hp-plugin error: Plug-in install failed

Здравствуйте.

Пытаюсь настроить HP LaserJet M1005 MFP на школьном компьютере.
Система -- ALT Linux School 5.0.1 Master, обновлена до текущего p5.

Доустановил hplip-gui и hplip-recommends.
Запускаю HP Device Manager.
"HP Device Manager - Setup" правильно показывает МФУ (HP Laser Jet M1005)
и, похоже, правильно - URI (hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_M1005?serial=...).
При нажатии на Next, в "HP Device Manager - Plug-in Installer" уже выбрано
Download and install ... (recommended) -- просто жму Next, некоторое время
жду (загрузка?), появляется Driver Plug-in License Agreement, соглашаюсь и
жму Next, появляется окно "System Policy prevents installation of printer plug-in -- PolicyKit-KDE" с полем для ввода пароля root.

И вот дальше пройти не удаётся.

Если вводить пароль медленно, то за это время появляется небольшое окошко
HP Device Manager с содержимым Plug-in install failed (появляется позади
окна PolicyKit-KDE, не сразу и заметишь) и -- всё.
Если ввести пароль достаточно быстро, то такое окно (Plug-in install
failed) появляется сразу после ввода пароля.

Логи в конце письма (последние записи -- быстрый ввод пароля).

Какой секретный код позволит пройти этот уровень? :)

С PolicyKit пока не разбирался, взглянул только на его конфиги (ничего
не менял) и на процессы, что-то есть:
/usr/bin/python /usr/bin/hp-pkservice
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/polkit-kde-manager

Подозреваю, что если найти скачанный файл и положить его в нужное место,
то всё станет хорошо (или надо ещё какие-то заклинания сказать?).
Что можно сделать?
Запускать под strace ?
