Я уже не знаю, куда еще смотреть. Вчера даже ALT compact 3 установил. 
Там заработало в xorg.conf только указал "1680x1050 на 60" и все. В 4.1.0 
бета все работало только видеокарта другая (gf mx440). К сожалению ни 
диска, ни образа не осталось что-бы проверить. Начинаю думать на драйвер 
173.х.х.
