Сейчас прописал шрифты в /etc/X11/XF86Config-4:

 FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled"
 FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled"
 FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1"
 #FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo"
 FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/default/Type1"
 FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/default/Bitmap-univga"
 FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType-val"
 FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/koi8-u/75dpi:unscaled"

и отключил xfs:

# service xfs status
xfs is stopped
# service xfs start

[ DONE ]
# service xfs status
xfs is dead, but stale PID file exists
# rm /var/run/xfs.pid
rm: удалить обычный файл `/var/run/xfs.pid'? y
# service xfs start
Starting X Font service:                                                
[ DONE ]
# service xfs status
xfs is dead, but stale PID file exists

# apt-get reinstall XFree86-xfs
