Итак, 

закомментировал в dll.conf всё, кроме plustek

В plustek.conf:

#device libusb:003:003 (один из вариантов -- по барабану!)

(Не может ли ЭТО мешать? Почему вообще wifi распознаётся, как сканер?)

(тут забавно, в /proc/bus/usb и т.д. -- права на доступ для группы scanner, но 
пока не прописал пользователя в группу disc (!), scanimage говорил, что нет 
доступа)
