[Comm] Mysql root password

 я могет чтото делаю не так но при попытке поменять пароль как описанно в 
мануале получаю 

[root на gwin conf.d]# /usr/libexec/mysqld --skip-grant-tables --user=mysql
Cannot initialize InnoDB as 'innodb_data_file_path' is not set.
If you do not want to use transactional InnoDB tables, add a line
skip-innodb
to the [mysqld] section of init parameters in your my.cnf
or my.ini. If you want to use InnoDB tables, add to the [mysqld]
section, for example,
innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:10M:autoextend
But to get good performance you should adjust for your hardware

http://www.innodb.com/ibman.html
/usr/libexec/mysqld: ready for connections

[root на gwin conf.d]# ps ax|grep mysql
13534 pts/6    S      0:00 /usr/libexec/mysqld --user=root --skip-grant-tables
13662 pts/4    S      0:00 grep mysql
[root на gwin conf.d]# mysqladmin -user=root password `ROOTPASSWD`
mysqladmin: unable to change password; error: 'You must have privileges to 
update tables in the mysql database to be able to change passwords for 
others'

или прав линухового рута не достаточно??
