Прошу прошения за длинный постинг,
но тут обнаружилось продолжение истории

Короче, не только у меня звуковые CD не рипаются под линуксом...

И модель другая, и дистрибутив другой -- симптомы те же...

Чипсет VIA может портить.

 Would someone help me.

I upgrade my m/b to

6via85t
BIOS Ver:1.0 08/13/2002
08/13/2002-694X-686B-6A6LJX3JC-00

and get a big problem
with my CD-RW Teac-540e drive
connected as master to second IDE.

In win98 the problem was successfully solved by installing
the VIA ATAPI Vendor Support Driver from the CD.

But all my work is in linux.

The Teac drive is connected through
ide-scsi interface to /dev/scd0
(phisically the drive is the master on second controller, i.e. hdc)
and all were worked fine before the upgrade.

After the upgrade to 6via85t
I discover that it works also fine while read/write
"ordinary" data CD.

But with an audioCD neither cdda2wav or cdparanoia
don't work properly. It operates very slowly with error messages in
/var/log/messages
like these:

...

My working linux is ALT Linux Master 2.2
(http://www.altlinux.ru)
with kernel24-up-2.4.20-alt5

Can there be a solution?

Many thanks in advance

 I have the same problem.
I use a K7T266 Pro 2 MSI board.
Neither cdda2wav or cdparanoia will work properly.
Both cause a kernel lock-up Missing interrupts and buffer over-flow.
I am using RH9 2.4.20-18.9.
I think it is a kernel problem but ... maybe also a Via issue.

/dev/hdd causes imediate lock-up with cdparanoia.
/dev/hdc will run until bad spot on audio cd and then cause lock-up.

/dev/hdc:

 Model=CD-ROM 48X/AKU, FwRev=T31, SerialNo=
 Config={ SpinMotCtl Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic }
 RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0
 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0
 (maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0
 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:227,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:150}
 PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 *mdma2
 AdvancedPM=no

/dev/hdd:

 IORDY=yes, tPIO={min:227,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
 PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2
 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2
 AdvancedPM=no
 Drive conforms to: device does not report version: 5

If anyone has a solution it would be appriciated.

Steve
