mutt-1.2.5i-ipl10mdk from Spring2001 has a bug in Russian
translation: it does not work in cp1251. You need to get a fixed
version from 

 ftp://ftp.altlinux.ru/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/updates/Spring2001/

Several other packages in Spring2001 have similar bugs. Try running:

 rpm -qf $(grep -L charset= /usr/share/locale/ru/LC_MESSAGES/*.mo)

This will find installed packages with buggy *.mo files; these
packages will not work in cp1251.
