Thanks for extra Michael. 

I reinstalled ALT Work Station exactly as before but now I am having
other isuues lol. When I connect my external drive to the pc, I am
unable to read the drives contents as it says I do not have the
necessary permissions to read the drives contents. 

I installed nemo file manager and can access the drive via root access
in nemo but when I copy the files over, they only show up in nemo root
privileges and not it regular caja home file manager. Weird as I had no
troubles of this kind before.

I am looking on internet for a possible fix. Will see what comes up.
