Major changes in the PVE edition compared to 11.0

Key cluster infrastructure changes

* SDN functionality extended with the ability to build Fabrics networks
using OpenFabric and OSPF routing protocols. This enables the creation
of dynamic, fault-tolerant networks.
* HA Affinity Rules mechanism added to define virtual machine placement
policies: node affinity (bind resources to specific nodes) and resource
affinity (control whether resources should be placed together on the
same node or on separate nodes). This new resource placement management
replaces legacy HA groups and provides more flexible configuration options.

Virtual machine operations

* Support for snapshot volume chains on thick LVM mplemented without
requiring thin provisioning. This approach provides greater flexibility
in managing snapshot-backed storage and saves memory: after the first
snapshot, each subsequent snapshot stores only changes from the previous
state, rather than a full copy.
* The conntrack state is now migrated alongside the VM during live
migration, allowing active network connections to be maintained.

LXC container enhancements

* Support for working with containers from public registries in
accordance with the OCI standard added. LXC containers can now be
deployed directly from imported OCI images.
* LXC hotplug — device hot-plugging is now available for running
containers without stopping or restarting them.
* Host‑managed DHCP — containers without their own network stack can now
obtain IP addresses via the host. DHCP requests are handled by the host,
eliminating the need to run a DHCP client inside the container or
manually configure static addresses.

Administration, monitoring and user interface

* The built-in mobile web interface has been completely rewritten in
Rust. It provides quick access from mobile devices and handles core
administration tasks: managing guest system state, viewing tasks, and
checking storage status.
* Bulk actions via the tag tree — the web interface now allows executing
operations (start, stop, migrate) on all resources marked with a given
tag directly from the resource tree.
* Guest metrics — CPU, I/O, and memory pressure stall graphs have been
added for guest cgroups, simplifying performance diagnostics inside
guest systems.
