The installer steps and interface have been redesigned. During
installation, you can now select only one desktop environment—either KDE
Plasma or Xfce. By default, the system offers the updated KDE Plasma 6.
After installation, having a single desktop environment ensures a clean
system with no duplicate applications. Educational software bundles can
be installed both during the installation process and on an already
installed system.
New Features
* A new ALT Components application has been added for managing system
components via a GUI. This interface allows you to install and remove
package sets on an already installed system.
The application incorporates system protection mechanisms to prevent
accidental removal of critically important packages. These new
mechanisms in Alterator include:
- Edition Protection: The system remembers which components are part of
the selected edition’s base set and, by default, prevents their removal.
- Manual Installation Protection: If a package is flagged with the apt
manual flag (installed manually, not as a dependency), the system will
not allow the removal of a component or package that would also remove
the manually installed package.
Advanced users and system administrators have the option to disable
these protections.
* The installer now includes an option to install the UDTN (Unified Data
Transmission Network) certificate. After installation, connecting to a
secured educational institution’s network only requires configuring the
proxy server (provided to the organization). This eliminates the need to
connect to a regular (public) network and reduces the risk of errors
during manual certificate configuration.
* Added instructions for installing the Jitsi Meet video conferencing
platform.
New Versions
* Chromium 144.0 provides a more stable web browsing experience.
* SANE 1.4 ensures proper functionality with modern MFPs and network
scanners.
Thunderbird 145.0 offers an updated interface with an improved UI.
* KDE (Plasma 6.5, Frameworks 6.23, Gear 25.12). Educational KDE
applications have been updated, including Cantor, KAlgebra, KBruch,
KGeography, Kturtle, KWordQuiz, Marble, Minuet, Step.
* Calibre 8.4 has become more convenient for handling large ebook files.
TRIK Studio 2025.4 is prepared for the All-Russian Olympiad in Computer
Science. It also introduces features for better adjustment of robot
physical parameters and correct calculations using trigonometric functions.
* Gazebo Sim 10.1(LTS) is a stable and modern version of the robot
simulator with long-term support, making it well-suited for educational use.
* GNU Octave 11.1.0 performs numerical computations with significant
speedup (up to 150 times), offers high compatibility with MATLAB, and
provides a convenient graphical interface with improved navigation.
* NetworkManager 1.54 with enhancements for configuring network connections.
