I'm new to Alt Linux and currently testing 5.0.2 Terminal from
Michael Shigorin's web site:
altlinux-5.0-20110423-terminal-i586-ru-install-cd.iso at <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://ftp.linux.kiev.ua/pub/Linux/ALT/people/mike/iso/terminal/">http://ftp.linux.kiev.ua/pub/Linux/ALT/people/mike/iso/terminal/</a><br>
<br>
After launching Synaptic, I clicked Reload to get the latest
offerings and I got this message:<br>
<br>
"Could not download all repository indexes"<br>
<br>
And it noted that Synaptic Preferences currently point to:<br>
<br>
<a
href="http://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/5.0/Desktop/current/i586/base/release">http://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/5.0/Desktop/current/i586/base/release</a><br>
<br>
which does not exist.<br>
<br>
I did find the following, but don't know if it would be
appropriate to point to it:<br>
<br>
<a
href="http://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/5.0/%20branch/i586/base/release">http://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/5.0/
branch/i586/base/release</a><br>
<br>
Synaptic hung with an working/active pointer after that, did
not revert to the original index and would not close.<br>
<br>
After rebooting and restarting Synaptic, the original index
loaded but all controls were unresponsive and it would not
close gracefully.<br>
<br>
Diagnosis and solutions?<br>
